MONTPELIER ó A two-year effort to create new protections for Vermontís lake shorelines looks likely to be passed into law.
A House-Senate conference committee agreed to a measure Friday that sets new standards for development of shoreline properties, with an eye toward protecting vegetation near the waterís edge.
The standards include point systems accounting for the thickness of trees to determine how many trees should be left standing on the shore.
