ORANGE — Nothing appears to have been stolen, but whoever broke into the Orange town clerk’s office this week left a sizable hole behind.

Town Clerk Kathy Felch said she discovered the hole when she arrived at work at 8 a.m. Wednesday and immediately called police.

According to Felch, the hole in an interior wall wasn’t there when she left work Tuesday at 5 p.m., and it appears someone broke into the furnace room door and then punched a hole through a wall in a closet to get into the office.

Desk drawers were opened and the office was ransacked, but Felch said she hasn’t discovered anything missing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Darryl Cremo at 229-9191 or Vermont Crime Stoppers at 800-529-9998.
