• Car crashes, burns, and driver is charged

    BRADFORD The alleged driver of a car found burning on Tarbox Road early Sunday morning is facing criminal charges after he refused to provide police with an evidentiary breath sample.

    State police said they found David Lefebvre, 20, of North Haverhill, N.H. walking not far from the spot where an abandoned vehicle was found parked and on fire shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

    Police claim Lefebrve was the driver and appeared to be intoxicated when they found him. Lefebrve was taken into custody and released on a citation after he refused to provide police with a breath sample. He is expected to be charged with DUI-refusal when he is arraigned at the criminal courthouse in Chelsea on Oct. 9.

    Police said Lefebrve was issued several traffic tickets in connection with the incident, but did not elaborate.

    The car fire, which was extinguished by Bradford firefighters, remains under investigation, they said.
