BARRE - Four people, three of them from New York, have been arrested on cocaine possession charges at a motel in the Vermont city of Barre.

Police said they responded to an assault complaint at the Days Inn on Monday night. They saw drugs, drug paraphernalia and guns in a room occupied by the four people.

After getting a search warrant, police seized two handguns, white powder that later tested positive for cocaine and marijuana from the room and a car.

They arrested 23-year-old Nathan Gore, 22-year-old Dwayne Miley and 18-year-old Byron Mathews, all of New York; and 28-year-old Hope Nisen of Barre. The four were being arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Washington County District Court. It wasn't immediately known if they had lawyers.
