Maintaining church and state
In a recent New York Times story about the street fighting in Cairo, a reporter on the scene wrote: “Groups of protesters tried to reach the besieged square, their chants rising behind the crack of weapons. ‘It’s for God,’ they said. ‘Not for position or prestige.’”
My reaction was, “Thank God we live in a secular nation, one that separates church and state.”
Let’s keep it that way.
