• Breeding farm to be preserved
    July 08,2013

NEWBURY — A farm on the Vermont bank of the Connecticut River in Newbury is being preserved with funds from the state and federal government, the Vermont Land Trust and a New Hampshire group.

Sky Acres Ranch, owned by Steve and Jane Johnson, has been protected in perpetuity through a conservation agreement with the Vermont Land Trust.

The farm specializes in the sale of high-quality registered Red Angus and Hereford breeding stock, semen, and embryos.

The land is being protected through a conservation easement — a legal tool that limits development on productive farmland and forestland.
