NEWPORT, R.I. — Friday night’s NECBL game between the Vermont Mountaineers and the Newport Gulls was been postponed due to inclement weather in Rhode Island.

The make-up date has been set for July 23 when the two teams will play a doubleheader at Recreation field in Montpelier. The start time for the games is yet to be announced.

The Mountaineers currently sit in first place in the Western Division with an 11-4 record. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games and hold a three-game lead over second-place Holyoke (8-7). The Newport Gulls are leading the Eastern Division at 11-3 and are also three games ahead of both Mystic and Laconia.

The Vermont Mountaineers are next in action tonight when they host the Keene Swamp Bats in NECBL action. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 at Recreation Field. You can catch the game locally on ESPN 1240 WSKI or online at thevermontmountaineers.com.
