BURLINGTON — A 9-year-old Vermonter is headed to Washington next month to be recognized at the White House for his healthy recipe for turkey burgers.

Colin Hurliman, of Burlington, is one of 54 youngsters from across the country invited to Washington by First Lady Michelle Obama as part of her “Let’s Move!” initiative designed to promote healthy lunches.

The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kids’ “State Dinner” program invited a parent or guardian to work with their child between 8 and 12 years old to create a lunchtime recipe that is healthy, affordable, original and delicious.

Colin’s recipe is called “Champ’s Maple BBQ Turkey Burgers.”

The “state dinner” is scheduled for July 9.
