EAST MONTPELIER — Vermont State Police say a two-car accident Wednesday in East Montpelier was caused by a driver momentarily taking his eyes off the road.

State police say Ryan Golden, 21, of Barre, was driving west on Route 2, looked away for a second and rear-ended Robert Rouleau, 27, who had stopped to pull into his driveway.

State police say Golden’s vehicle sustained major front-end damage and Rouleau’s sustained minor damage. Rouleau’s 10-month-old daughter, who was in a car seat in his vehicle, was not injured, nor was Golden, police said, but Rouleau was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center with neck and back pain.

    No charges were filed.
