• Driver killed in Vt collision with horse trailer

    HARTFORD — A Vermont woman died Thursday after her car collided with a semi-truck pulling a horse trailer on Route 4 in Quechee.

    Police said 40-year-old Patience Hutt, of Woodstock, was driving west and collided about 4 p.m. Thursday with an Equine Express horse trailer heading east.

    The driver of the tractor-trailer, Billy Surles, 44, of Howe, Texas, and co-driver Raymond Keyrouse, 28, of Texas, were not injured. The trailer also clipped another westbound vehicle that was behind Hutt at the time of the crash.

    Nicholas Allard, 41, and Christophe Manet, 41, of France, were in the second vehicle, and both escaped injury, police said. The two witnessed the crash.

    The incident is under investigation.

    No animals were in the trailer.
