EAST MONTPELIER — Paul L. Seguin, 90, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington.
He was born June 10, 1922, in North Hatley, Quebec, the son of Augustus and Rhea (Barre) Seguin. The family moved to Barre, and he attended the North End School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1939.
He worked as a tractor-trailer driver delivering granite for Rossi Trucking Co. of Barre.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was a heavy machine gun operator in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged in 1945 with several military medals.
He was a member of St. Augustine Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 792.
He married Millicent Fleurrey in Montpelier on Sept. 9, 1950.
He was a diesel mechanic for Caterpillar Motors. He worked many years with Jordan-Milton in Barre and Montpelier. He retired in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, of East Montpelier; three daughters, Jeanne Leno, of Berlin, Gaylene Kramer, of Montpelier, and Paula Perry, of East Montpelier; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Desilets, of Barre; a brother, Charles Seguin, of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Clair Begun, and two brothers, Maurice and Arthur.
A funeral Mass will be offered at noon Saturday, April 27, 2013, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow the Mass at Plain-Mont Cemetery.
