FAIRLEE — The Department of Public Safety will be hosting an emergency response and school shooting seminar in Fairlee today.

The seminar is being offered to fire, police and emergency management personnel, along with municipal leaders, teachers and school officials. It will be conducted by Jay Ruoff, division chief of Littleton Fire Rescue in Colorado. The session will take place at Lake Morey resort from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Every community must consider the possibility that such an event may occur in their jurisdiction and review their response capability,” said John Wood, deputy commissioner of public safety, in a news release. “The response to acts of ultra-violence will require a rapid, organized and coordinated effort on the part of all agencies involved, and this seminar is one more step in solidifying the relationship between the agencies that would be involved in the event of a school shooting.”
