BARRE ó Two Randolph men have been charged with driving with a little over 3 pounds of marijuana on Interstate 89.
Martin C. Dalley-Wall, 23, and Devin J. Bagalio, 24, pleaded not guilty to felony possession of over a pound of marijuana Thursday in Washington County criminal court. If convicted they each face a maximum of five years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
According to the Vermont State Police affidavit, police were told the vehicle Bagalio was driving was possibly transporting drugs. State police located the vehicle and started following it. Police said the rear plate was hard to read, which is a violation, so the vehicle was pulled over.
State police said Bagalio looked nervous and that they asked if they could search the vehicle. Bagalio declined, and a police dog was called to see if any drugs could be detected in the vehicle.
State police said the dog signaled there were drugs in the vehicle and that they impounded the car so they could apply for a search warrant. The warrant was granted, and state police said they found a large cardboard box with three bags of marijuana inside.
Bagalio has convictions for disorderly conduct in 2008 and marijuana possession of under an ounce in 2007.MORE IN Central VermontThe Barre Heritage Festival and Homecoming Days kicked into high gear Friday with numerous events... Full Story
