SPRINGFIELD — The owners of a Vermont game farm who lost more than 20,000 quails and 30 pigs in a fire say they have enough insurance to get some new sows and start re-breeding quail.
In the meantime, brothers Rick and Bill Thompson of Cavendish Game in Springfield say they plan to buy and sell turkeys, guinea hens and pheasant.
They told Vermont Public Radio that they’ve been swamped with quail orders since news of the fire spread. The brothers want to hatch most of the remaining eggs to replace the burned birds.
