    Double standard?

If I wrote a letter to The Times Argus comparing a racial or ethnic group to animals it would rightly be rejected out of hand.

Just because the Constitution gives someone a right to sink into hate speech doesn’t mean that your newspaper is obligated to publish their drivel.

Yet your editors apparently have no problem publishing a letter (March 26) that explicitly compares same-sex marriage to bestiality.

The sentiments expressed in Mr. Bair’s letter are hateful in exactly the same way that any letter calling a particular group of people subhuman would be.

The only merits of the letter are that the author knows a few multisyllabic words and how to write complete sentences.

Apparently that’s good enough for The Times Argus.
