Woman admits taking part in home invasion
BARRE — The final member of a group that forced its way into a Berlin home and threatened an occupant at gunpoint in April has pleaded guilty.
Lisa Barbour, 26, of Barre, admitted to grand larceny and possession of heroin, as well as violating conditions of release and probation, in Washington County criminal court in Barre on Wednesday. Barbour agreed to a sentence of 18 months to seven years, to run concurrent with her sentence on federal drug charges to which she also pleaded guilty. She will await sentencing on the state charges until a pre-sentencing investigation is conducted.
Barbour, Tokamawon Juty, 21, of Barre, Joel Bonano, 21, of Worcester, Mass., and Austin Brown, 17, of Barre, were accused of forcing their way into a Berlin residence where Barbour’s cousin was living, looking for someone over a drug deal. Bonano grabbed the phone from one of the occupants as she was trying to call police, pointed a handgun at her and threatened to kill her and the other person in the residence.
Barbour, Bonano and Juty then vandalized $4,000 in property and stole several items before driving off in a sport-utility vehicle. They also warned the victims not to call the police or they would be killed.
Bonano was sentenced in February to 46 months to 10˝ years on charges of felony burglary, felony unlawful mischief and misdemeanor interference with access to emergency services. Juty was given a five-year deferred sentence in February for felony burglary and 59 to 60 days for misdemeanor petit larceny. Brown was granted youthful offender status, and the results of his charges were not available.
Barbour pleaded guilty to two felony counts of selling cocaine in a separate incident in February 2012, where she was caught selling 28 grams of cocaine with Jonnathan Allen, 33, of Barre. She is to be sentenced on those charges in May.
Allen was sentenced to 10 years in November on two felony counts of selling cocaine.MORE IN This Just InMONTPELIER – The United States Department of Agriculture announced today that schools in... Full Story
