MONTPELIER — The support for recouping the cost of rescuing lost out-of-bound skiers has waned.
Three bills were proposed this session that would assign financial — and sometimes criminal — responsibility when skiers and snowboarders travel outside boundaries and become lost.
Rep. Larry Townsend, D-Randolph, and Sen. Kevin Mullin, R-Rutland, introduced bills that would fine skiers and snowboarders up to $500 for going out of bounds at a Vermont resort. Mullin’s bill has been withdrawn, and Townsend said he was not going to pursue his.
Rep.
