RANDOLPH ó Rene G. Nadeau, 85, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Holyoke, Mass., the son of Joseph and Florence (Voghell) Nadeau.†
He graduated from Holyoke Trade High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.†
In Massachusetts, he worked at Springfield Armory and Westinghouse in East Springfield. In Vermont, he was a telegrapher for Central Vermont Railway until 1959 when he went to work for CVPS as a meter reader, then in sales at the CVPS Randolph and Woodstock stores.†He owned and operated Randolph TV and Appliance for four years and managed Nelson Brothers Appliance Store in Randolph until retiring in 1983.†
He married Norma Brassard on Oct. 12, 1982, in Orlando, Fla.
In Randolph, he was past president of the PTA, past president and director for the Chamber of Commerce and past secretary and board member of Rotary.†He was a Knights of Columbus fourth-degree member of Bethel Council 10241 and served on the parish council of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.†
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, traveling and camping at Lake Champagne.
Survivors include his wife, of Randolph; five children, Paul, of Braintree, Mark, of Shelburne, Robert, of Fair Haven, Melanie Adams, of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Michelle Steen, of Lyndonville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.†
He was predeceased by a sister, Claire Cote.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.†
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Day Funeral Home.†
Private burial will be at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.†
