DUXBURY — Residents in Waterbury, Moretown, Duxbury, Warren and Fayston approved a budget of $13,015,259 for Harwood Union High School during Town Meeting Day voting Tuesday.

State law required the budget to be broken into two questions on the ballot because the district’s spending per pupil last year was more than the statewide average and the new budget is greater than last year’s budget adjusted for inflation.

The initial amount of $12,886,914 was approved 1,343 to 911. For the additional part of the budget, residents approved $128,345 by a vote of 1,178 to 1,051.

The total budget is 7.6 percent more than the current year’s budget of $12,092,615 and includes increases to health insurance, salaries and deferred infrastructure maintenance, as well as the cost of a new truck for plowing.
