EAST MONTPELIER – Voters in the five-town Washington Central Supervisory Union handily approved the $14.1 million budget proposed for U-32 Junior-Senior High School during day-long voting on Tuesday.
The ballots cast in Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Middlesex, and Worcester were co-mingled and counted after the polls closed in each community, but the results weren’t available until very late Tuesday night.
Voters collectively approved the proposed budget, which reflects a spending increase of just over $500,000, or about 3.7 percent, 1,137-781.
A companion request asking voters for permission to place any audited surplus funds into a reserve account that can be spent at the discretion of the U-32 School Board passed by an even wider margin, 1,473-427. -
