$443,495 — a $27,082 increase from last year’s budget of $416,413, reflecting the expense of repairing vehicles and an increase in the cost of benefits.

According to Washington South Superintendent Laurie Gossens, the budget projection is a closer reflection of expenditures after significant surpluses in past years. The school is also asking voters to decide whether 3-year-olds can be included in the Roxbury Village School preschool program. Gossens said there are no additional costs associated with allowing 3-year-olds to attend the program, which runs four days a week.
To see if the town will borrow a sum not to exceed $96,000 for the purchase of property owned by Charles and Kristi Garner. The property is situated between the town office and the fire station. If approved, the funds would be repaid over 10 years.

Clarence Baker is facing A. David Santi in the annual race for first constable.
Santi is also squaring off against Ryan Zajac for a three-year seat on the school board to fill a vacancy left by David Larcombe.
Roxbury residents will meet at the Roxbury Town Hall (the Village School) at 10 a.m. on March 5. Election of officers and voting on Article 6 — the purchase of the Garner property — will take place by Australian ballot from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town Hall.MORE IN Community News
