In agreement with union
Having sat on the opposite side of the negotiating table from Scott Cameron, I am somewhat amazed to find myself agreeing with him on the issue of nonunion member teachers paying mandatory union fees, especially considering how vehemently he has always opposed the concept when brought to the table during collective bargaining.
I do most strongly agree with his idea that should the proposed bill pass, that any funds collected should go directly to the individual school or district bargaining units, rather than directly to the National Education Association. The vast majority of our dues already go to the NEA, while the local teachers associations that do the vast majority of the bargaining work are usually virtually broke.
