ESSEX JUNCTION — The sixth annual Jr. Iron Chef Vermont competition was held Saturday at the Champlain Valley Expo, where 330 middle and high school students from across the state gathered to put their culinary skills to the test.
Teams had 90 minutes to impress a panel of more than 20 expert judges, including the James Beard Award-winning author Rowan Jacobsen, who lives in Calais. With original recipes that featured local ingredients, students created dishes that can be replicated on the school lunch line.
