MONTPELIER — A multimedia exhibit recognizing and honoring Vermont women will go on display in the Statehouse Tuesday.
The exhibit, “Labor of Love,” opens with a reception at 3:30 p.m. with remarks and discussion at 4:10 p.m. by three honorees — Brenda Torpy, chief executive officer of Champlain Housing Trust, Jan Ruta, master electrician, and Michelle Tarryk, executive director of the Northeast Kingdom Learning Center.
The 29 honorees come from all parts of Vermont. They are farmers, doctors, tattoo artists, college presidents, electricians, and general store clerks. They are young and young-at-heart, well-known and not.
The exhibit features portraits by Mary Claire Carroll in combination with short excerpts from interviews conducted by young women from around Vermont and produced by the Vermont Folklife Center. It will run from Feb. 4 to Feb. 28 in the Statehouse cafeteria.MORE IN This Just InVermont lawmakers this week approved a bill to regulate for the first time police use of...
