Elizabeth Jean Lyons Rites
GRANITEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre, for Elizabeth Jean Lyons of Orchard Terrace, who passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant.
Crucifer Lawrence Reilly was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist Rosie Badeau accompanied soloists Romeo Bilodeau and Sarah Procopio in the hymns, “Amazing Grace,” “Hail, Mary, Gentle Woman,” “Ave Maria,” “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Words of remembrance were offered by daughter Laurie Morrill.
The Old Testament reading was read by Shawn O’Neill, cousin, and Nancy Nakhlah, niece, read scriptures from the New Testament.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Zachary Morrill, Joshua Morrill, Jessica Lyons, Jacob Lyons and Anna Lyons, all grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Thomas O’Neill, uncle; Shawn O’Neill, Vincent O’Neill, Dennis Lyons, cousins; Robert Lyons, Clarence Lyons, brothers-in-law; Ian MacKenzie, nephew; and friend Marco Parent.
A prayer service was held Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home and was led by Father Bilodeau.
Entombment was in the Wilson Vault. A later spring burial will be in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville.
Following the entombment, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
