Robert Marshall Bates Rites
BARRE TOWN — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, January 26, 2013, in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre, for Robert Marshall Bates of Wildersburg Commons, who passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at his home.
The principal celebrant was the Rev. Msgr. Peter A. Routhier, rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Burlington and vicar general of the Diocese of Burlington, assisted by the Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Soosairaj A. Cruz, parochial vicar of St. Luke Parish.
Crucifer Lawrence Reilly was altar server. Father Leo offered the homily. Rev. Mr. Daniel L. Pudvah, deacon, led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist Rosie Badeau accompanied vocalists Romeo Bilodeau and Sarah Procopio in the hymns, “Amazing Grace,” “The Lord Is My Shepard,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Ave Maria” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Words of remembrance were offered by Mark Bates, son, and Gina McDonald, daughter.
The Old Testament reading was read by Randy McDonald and Alan Joyal read scriptures from the New Testament, both sons-in-law.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Robert’s grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Victor Badeau, Randy Tries, Robert Rivett, family friends, and Reginald Pouliot, cousin.
Burial will be held at a later date.
Following the Mass, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
