MONTPELIER — An eighth annual read-a-thon will take place Jan. 26 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the National Life building to see how many books individuals and teams can read in an hour.
The event is through Everybody Wins! — a children’s literacy and mentoring program — and celebrates National Mentoring Month.
The event will also feature entertainment; bookmark making; milk and cookies; and hidden “Golden Tickets” in the books. The Golden Tickets can be redeemed for prizes donated by Bear Pond Books.
Teams and individuals have the option of collecting pledges for their reading session, which National Life will match dollar for dollar. Those who sign up in advance at Bear Pond Books will be registered for a prize drawing.
