    Reid Lawson Rites

MONTPELIER — The service of remembrance and celebration of life for Kendall Reid Lawson, 73, of Independence Green, was held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Barre. He died on Jan. 10, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

The Rev. Carl Hilton-VanOsdall, pastor of the church, led the service. Organist Sue Johansen accompanied the congregation in the hymns, “For All the Saints,” “Christ of the Upward Way,” “Lord, You Have Come to the Lakeshore” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” She also accompanied soloist Sally Koch in the anthem, “On Eagles’ Wings.” Bagpiper Donald Murray played “Scotland the Brave” and “Amazing Grace.”

Shared reflections on Reid’s life were offered by son Craig Lawson, daughter Jill McNamee, who also read the poem “I’m Free,” and brother Douglas Lawson.

Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill for a time of sharing and a luncheon.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of the arrangements.
