Vt Lottery announces million-dollar winner
BERLIN — The Vermont Lottery has identified the $1 million winner who purchased the lucky Mega Millions ticket in Berlin.
Irving Lawrence Jr., of Berlin, bought the ticket at the Maplewood Convenience Store. The ticket was worth $250,000, but since Lawrence bought the $1 Megaplier, the total winnings quadrupled.
In a news release Tuesday from the Vermont Lottery, Lawrence said his 10-year-old grandson had recently opened a fortune cookie that said the “family’s financial situation was going to change.”
The lottery said the Lawrence family did not have any immediate plans for the money but were planning a trip or two as well as some home improvements and investments.
The Maplewood Convenience Store will receive $1,000 for selling the winning ticket. Lottery agents receive a 1 percent bonus for selling tickets worth at least $500.MORE IN This Just InMONTPELIER — The organization helping Vermont prepare for the federal health care reform has...
