NORTHFIELD — A Northfield man was sentenced Monday to just over eight years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
Robert Gray, 37, was sentenced to 97 months followed by 10 years of supervised release. District Court Judge William K. Sessions also ordered him to complete sex offender treatment.
According to court records, a search of Gray’s home Feb. 24 led to the seizure of two computers Gray used. More than 1,000 images and many videos containing child pornography were found on the computers, according to officials.
Gray was indicted by a federal grand jury in March and pleaded guilty in September.
“Robert Gray has already demonstrated that he poses a threat to the most vulnerable members of our communities, our children,” said Bruce M. Foucart, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston, in a news release. “It’s a horrifying fact that by trading child pornography on the Internet, offenders like Gray effectively sentence those depicted to a lifetime of victimization.”
