Reader misses the point

I must contradict the “utter nonsense” in Will Lindner’s Jan. 9 letter to the editor. “Assault weapon” absolutely is a term used by the left wing of the media and our government to incite an emotional response from a largely uninformed public to suit their political agenda. There is nothing functionally different between these military-style firearms and any other semi-automatic medium-caliber rifle. Nothing. There are no “accoutrements” that make them any different.

Facts are a pesky thing, but facts they remain. Perhaps, nothing out of the ordinary for a former reporter.
