Police: Man admits Burlington hit-and-run
BURLINGTON — Police in Burlington say a driver has turned himself in after a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian two weeks ago.
Police said 54-year-old Lionel Persinger, of Burlington, came to the police station Dec. 22 and said he may have been the person who ran over 55-year-old Donna Wixson with his pickup truck on the night of Dec. 18.
Deputy Police Chief Andi Higbee said Persinger read the news online and thought he may have been the driver.
Higbee said Persinger described being in the area of Church and Maple streets and recalled his tires rolling over an obstacle in the road. Police said Persinger’s vehicle matches the description of the truck involved in the crash.MORE IN Vermont NewsMONTPELIER — Ask Peter Shumlin to track the origins of his fiscal policy, and he’ll tell you...
