VERNON — Three cars were damaged but none of the drivers were seriously injured when a moose caused a series of crashes on Vermont’s Interstate 91.

State police say the moose was running onto the passing lane around 7 p.m. in the town of Vernon when it was struck and killed by a Ford Focus. The dead moose was then struck by two more cars, one of which flipped over onto its roof.

One driver suffered minor cuts to her hand but otherwise none were hurt.
