FAIR HAVEN — The local nonprofit Fair Haven Concerned received a $5,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation as part of its “12 Days of Giving” holiday campaign on Friday.
Over 12 consecutive days, the Walmart Foundation has awarded $1.5 million to 140 organizations across the country that provide basic needs and services such as food, shelter, clothing and medical care in their communities. The grant to Fair Haven Concerned is part of the campaign’s 12th day.
Walmart received more than 21,677 nominations for grants from Facebook users who submitted descriptions of each nonprofit. The organizations receiving grants serve communities in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
