An early-morning fire, spotted by a third shift police officer around 4:30 a.m., brought fire crews from a half-dozen Central Vermont departments to the scene at Houle Brothers granite shed off Willey Street in Barre the morning of Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012. Crews were still working to suppress the fire around 7:30 a.m., although it was largely under control at that time.
