Breath of fresh air

Tim Tebow is probably number one in most people’s hearts and minds, but still a bench warmer for the Jets. So, what is this sports/human interest story really all about? In today’s pro sports world Tim Tebow stands out as a regular guy, maybe even more then that. He’s honest, generous, religious, good with kids and other people and a good teammate. The NFL “experts” on TV and on the sidelines all say he can’t compete in their elite league due to his poor passing arm and lack of pro football (macho) mentality. I say that’s good.

This story is all about a breath of fresh air in a stale, pro sports world full of high paid, egotistical, irresponsible people. From A-Rod to Michael Vick, to Plaxico Burress and Rex Ryan and on and on, these guys demonstrate how selfish, irresponsible and immature they are everyday. Meanwhile, Tim Tebow quietly goes about his business in a way in which we Americans can be proud of and kids can emulate. So, whether he starts for the Jets or not doesn’t matter. He’s on the starting team that really counts and if I was his coach, he’d damn well be out on the field playing QB.
