BARRE — The service of remembrance and life celebration for Alice M. Collins, of Abbott Avenue, was held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in the Barre Congregational Church at 11 a.m. She died at her home Dec. 5, 2012.
The Rev. David Vanderlinde-Abernathy, pastor of the church, led the service.
Alice’s granddaughter, the Rev. Elissa C. Johnk, pastor of the Old Meeting House in East Montpelier Center, offered words of remembrance and was the homilist.
Organist Eric Giles accompanied the congregation in the hymns, “From All That Dwell Below the Skies,” “Shall We Gather at the River,” “Be Thou My Vision,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “For All the Saints.” He also led the chancel choir in the anthem, “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry.” That honored Alice’s longtime choir membership. Former son-in-law and guitarist-soloist Roger Grow sang a special song, “My Life Flows On.”
Following the organ postlude, “Abide with Me” and other selections, a time of fellowship and luncheon followed in the church fellowship hall.
The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of arrangements.MORE IN ObituariesCORINTH CORNER — Estelle Miller Jackson (1910-2014) died peacefully at the Blue Spruce Home in...
