• Food Works to honor farmer

    MONTPELIER — Longtime central Vermont farmer Joey Klein, of Plainfield, will be honored with a lifetime achievement award from Food Works and Hunger Mountain Coop.

    The award will be part of Food Works’ Farm to Table year-end gathering of farmers, food service professionals, students and community members. It will be held Monday in the U-32 cafeteria from 4 to 6 p.m.

    The executive director of Food Works, Martin Kemple, said Klein will be recognized for more than 30 years of work growing organic vegetables.

    Food Works is a 25-year-old nonprofit organization that teaches people how to grow, prepare, preserve and share their own fresh, local food.
