    Gloria J. Caton Rites

BARRE — The funeral service for Gloria Jean Caton, of Lawrence Avenue, was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal of Barre. She died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

The Rev. Earl Kooperkamp, pastor of the church, presided while Marjorie Strong provided the musical tribute on the organ, playing the hymns, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought” and “In the Garden.” The acolyte was Goddard Graves.

The Old Testament reading was presented by Tess Taylor, and Gloria’s brother Robert Jarvis read from the New Testament. The poem “Autumn Rain” was read by godson and nephew Christopher Jarvis.

In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, a special flower presentation ceremony, led by the Rev. Kooperkamp, was held for the family at the closing of the service.

Following the service, the congregation was invited to the church hall for a time of refreshment and fellowship.

Entombment took place in the Hooker and Whitcomb vault, to await a spring burial in the Robinson Cemetery in Calais.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was entrusted with the arrangements.
