    Icy roads cause accidents

Rescue crews were kept busy throughout the late afternoon and evening as temperatures dropped creating black ice on roadways across the region. Accidents were reported along Interstate 89 between Waterbury and Randolph, as well as along some back roads.

Police were dispatched to several accidents and spin-offs. No serious accidents or injuries were reported.

By around 7 p.m., state and local salt and sand trucks were dispatched and were making the roads travel-ready.
