Land trust envisions low-income apartments for Waterbury
WATERBURY — Central Vermont Community Land Trust, which has been eyeing Ladd Hall at the Waterbury state office complex for low-income apartments, is seeking village and town money.
The nonprofit is looking to borrow $175,000 from the town through the Community Development Block Grant program and $200,000 from the village through the Urban Development Action Grant program.
Select Board Chairman John Grenier said there are tight eligibility restrictions for block grant money but that this project seems to be the first in a long time that meets certain criteria. For one thing, the project would specifically benefit low- and moderate-income people.
“It seems like a good use of the money, and we would like to use it to help redevelop the complex,” Grenier said Tuesday.MORE IN This Just In
