• Wind energy important for the future

    Look to the future

As a lifelong Vermonter I believe that wind power needs to be a part of our energy future. It would create jobs, lessen our reliance on fossil fuels, and save our great state’s seasons and wildlife. Though they may be a slight bump in an otherwise perfect view to some people, I personally believe that what these wind turbines symbolize — local, clean energy — makes them that much more majestic.

Vermont is already one of the leaders in the fight to move away from the devastating effects of fossil fuels; we must now take our leadership further by creating a strong, clean energy future including resources like wind and solar. We must do this, not only to preserve our future, but to start a trend for other states. Let’s help ourselves out in the long run and build a strong clean energy future right here in Vermont. No one energy source is without some environmental impact, but we as Vermonters have a responsibility to producing what energy we can. The impact of developing a wind farm doesn’t being to compare to the devastating effects of coal mining, or natural gas fracking.

We need to do our part to ensure that our future generations can enjoy the Vermont we know and love. Let us not worsen the problem, but become part of the solution. Together as Vermonters, it can be done.
