WILLIAMSTOWN — The funeral service and life celebration for Dorothy L. “Dottie” Davis of the Gardens, was held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. She died Nov. 6, 2012, at Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Lay minister, spiritual adviser and chaplain Carolyn Peake led the service and the congregation in the hymn “How Great Thou Art” as well as read the poem “The Dash.” Words of remembrance were offered by longtime friends, Stephen B. Martin, Ruth Smith and Connie Fondry.
Son-in-law guitarist Ted Blachly and mandolinist James Barthlemy played a very spirited rendition of “Over the Rainbow.”
The bearers were her son, Richard E. Davis Jr., grandson Peter Wheale and sons-in-law Enver Safir, Derek Dequaine, Michael Braun and Ted Blachly. Burial was made in the Lincoln-Noyes Cemetery in Greensboro.
To recognize Dottie’s Naval service as a WAVE during World War II, the folded American flag was presented to her son “Rick” by Bruce W. Judd.
Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Hilltop Restaurant in Barre Town.
