Allow trucks on Main Street

I want it to be known that not every business on Main Street is in favor of banishing truck traffic from the new, beautiful main thoroughfare. In addition to the safety, cost, and inconvenience issues of routing trucks through a residential and school area, there is a social diversity issue. I miss seeing the log, oil, milk, food and especially granite trucks. They are part of the vibrant fabric of our community, and I think these hard workers should have been honored by being the first to christen the new Main Street and not banished.

And what about tour buses? Nobody is suggesting they not be allowed even though they are just as big as trucks. And how about motorcycles, which are just as noisy. I do not think that trucks hurt business and the downtown is supposed to be for everyone and not just shoppers in cars. With the wide sidewalks and clear crosswalks there is nothing pedestrian unfriendly about the trucks.
