    Leaman R. Martin

    NORTHFIELD FALLS ó Leaman R. Martin, 76, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

    He was born in Wrightsville on Feb. 2, 1936, the son of Harold and Edith (Sanders) Martin. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1954.

    He married Mary Rose Swann Ashford in Northfield in 1971. She died in 2009.

    He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany.

    He had worked for the Nantanna Woolen Mill, Northfield Fuels, and as a granite polisher for Cetrangolo Finishing Works, all of Northfield.

    He was a past member of the American Legion in Northfield. He enjoyed hunting and watching television and was a skilled billiard player.

    Survivors include two children, David Ashford, of Washington, and Linda Yonkers, of Leesburg, Fla.; one brother, Kendall Martin, of Northfield; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by seven siblings, Harold, Irene, Ruth, Howard, Doris, Evelyn and Ralph.

    In keeping with his wishes there are no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimerís Association, 172 N. Main St., Barre, VT 05641-4124 or American Heart Association, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

    Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield is handling the arrangements.
