    Wheel falls off in Montpelier

In these lean financial times when so many families are struggling, it appears the Montpelier City Council’s plan to spend $5,000 to place a sign on a building whose architecture and location literally scream City Hall is not only a waste of money but also insensitive. To this observer, who is frequently entertained and sometimes puzzled by the comings and goings and recurring controversies in our capital city, it would seem that a wheel has fallen off the leadership wagon in Montpelier, whose diverse populace include poets, playwrights and people who keep pigs.

That said, I wonder whatever happened to those runaway piglets whose escape was highlighted in a recent Times Argus Montpelier police report. Did those little guys become bacon and ham, or are they still on the lam?
