    WASHINGTON — A service celebrating the life of Clara M. Rogers, 81, a former Fire House Road resident, was held Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at noon in the Washington Baptist Church.

    She passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.

    The Rev. Russell Rathier, pastor of the church, led the service and read the poem “Mother.” Pianist Rosemary Badeau led the congregation in the hymns “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Guitarist Jennifer Curtin sang with Kate Carney and Finbar Curtin the songs “Wondrous Love,” “I Am A Poor Wayfaring Stranger” and “Amazing Grace.”

    Friends Susie Cyr, Marion Ricard, Mary Contois, Carol Davis, Gwen Cyr and Cheri Galfetti offered reflections.

    Interment took place in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Washington with the Rev. Rathier offering the committal prayers. The bearers were grandsons Christopher Cochran and Garrett Royce; son-in-law David Royce; and nephews Howard Beede, Leon Beede and Les Beede. The prerecorded hymn “Amazing Grace” by the Celtic Ladies was played.

    Following the committal service, family and friends gathered in the church dining hall for a time of sharing and refreshments.

    The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of arrangements.
