DUXBURY — Betty Emily Krick, 84, passed away at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday evening, Sept. 16, 2012. Born in Duxbury on July 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Eunice (Bettis) Harvey. On July 13, 1966, she married Coble Krick in Trenton, N.J. Coble predeceased Betty in October 1993.
Betty was a 1946 graduate of Waterbury High School. In her early years, she was employed as an aide at the Vermont State Hospital and later worked at General Electric in Burlington. Living in Trenton, N.J., she owned and operated a trailer park there for many years. She and Coble moved to Bradenton, Fla., in 1968 and following his death, returned to Vermont in 1999 to live closer to her family.
Betty had a great love for music, dancing and sewing. She and Coble started a string band while living in Florida and was a gifted seamstress; Betty made all of the elaborate costumes worn by the musicians, particularly for their yearly production that was enjoyed by so many. Betty is survived by her sister, Marlene Kirkpatrick and her husband, Ronald of North Port, Fla.; her two brothers, Eugene “Bill” Harvey and his wife, Brenda of Barre, and Burley Harvey and his wife, Linda of Berlin; her step-daughter, Charlotte Hack of Willingboro, N.J.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Trayah; a sister, Beverly Parison; and two brothers, Bradley and Robert Harvey.
Betty’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Mayo Manor in Northfield for all of the care, kindness and consideration given to her over the past two years.
Graveside services will be held at the Phillips Cemetery in Duxbury Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
