BROOKFIELD — A Brookfield man was arrested Tuesday on charges of growing marijuana.

James Freeman Jr., 30, was arrested after the Orange County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Cemetery Street in Brookfield.

Freeman was charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, felony possession of firearms and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police confiscated close to three pounds of marijuana, evidence of cultivation, guns, a ballistics-proof vest and a crossbow. Children were in the home with the growing operation, police said.

Freeman was held at the Springfield prison for lack of $2,500 bail.
