Adjutant general to brief lawmakers on deployment

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The head of the Vermont National Guard is to brief lawmakers on the largest deployment of the Guard's troops since World War II.

Adjutant Gen. Michael Dubie will speak to House and Senate members in a session set for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the House chamber.

Some 1,500 Guard members have been undergoing training at a base in Indiana in preparation for shipping out to Afghanistan.

The troops are being deployed to train Afghan national security forces and police.

It is a sad time in Vermont as our fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, neighbors go and fight....be safe. There is nothing more to say.
